MUNICH, September 8, 2025 – At IAA Mobility 2025 (Munich motor show), Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ: GNTX) will showcase automotive features that enhance driving comfort and safety by helping drivers mitigate dangerous roadway glare from sunlight and ultrabright modern headlamps. In addition, the company will highlight technologies from some of its technology partners, including automotive thermal sensing from ADASKY, and wireless power and data transfer from Solace.
Recent studies show that glare from modern headlight technologies remains a major concern of drivers today. Whether from oncoming headlights or rearview mirrors, glare hampers a driver’s forward vision, decreasing reaction time and increasing stopping distances. Gentex interior and exterior automatic-dimming mirrors use cameras, chemistry and algorithmic decision-making to automatically detect and eliminate dangerous rearview mirror glare. They are a highly desired and useful feature that address a well-documented, universal, real-world driving concern.
To alleviate oncoming sunlight glare, Gentex’s dimmable sun visors mark the next step in dimmable glass innovation. They fold down like traditional sun visors but include a clear, dimmable panel that darkens automatically when deployed. These visors help prevent sunlight glare from reaching the driver’s (and passenger’s) eyes without blocking the forward view, allowing them to continue monitoring traffic, stop lights, signage, and the road ahead.
Gentex dimmable sunroofs solve the problem of overhead glare and excessive sunload without the need for mechanical sunshades. The company’s dimmable film-based smart glass can be integrated into large, panoramic designs or segmented panels that allow each vehicle occupant to control the dimming of the sunroof above their seat. Sunroof darkness levels can be controlled manually, automatically, or via smartphone app.
Gentex’s IAA Mobility exhibit will also showcase the company’s industry-leading Full Display Mirror® (FDM®), an intelligent rear-vision system that uses a custom camera and mirror-integrated video display to optimize a vehicle’s rearward view. The system captures video from a rearward-facing camera and streams it to a unique mirror-integrated LCD that provides the driver with an unobstructed, panoramic view behind the vehicle.
On the ADAS front, European Union General Safety Regulations and various New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP) are incentivizing automakers to integrate driver monitoring system (DMS) into their vehicles. Consequently, Gentex has secured multiple contracts with various OEM customers to provide its scalable, mirror-integrated driver and in-cabin monitoring system.
At IAA, Gentex will demonstrate its mirror-integrated DMS, which tracks driver head pose, eye gaze, and other metrics to determine distraction, drowsiness, sudden sickness, and return of manual control in semi-autonomous vehicles. The system can expand to include 2D and structured-light-based 3D cabin monitoring for detecting passengers, behavior, objects, and even presence of life.
Integrating DMS in the rearview mirror provides the camera with an optimal view of the driver and vehicle occupants, while affording automakers a high-performance, cross-platform solution that can help meet NCAP safety ratings.
Gentex’s booth will also showcase its product development activities with a variety of its strategic partners, including ADASKY, the developer of a unique thermal imaging technology ideal for meeting nighttime pedestrian detection requirements for automatic emergency braking systems, and Solace, the developer of a wireless power and data technology that can replace traditional wired connectors by transmitting wirelessly over distance and through barriers like glass and plastic.
The IAA Mobility show runs September 8-12 in Munich, Germany. Gentex technologies will be on display in Hall A1, Stand #B23.
