Gentex will showcase its driver monitoring system (DMS) at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, Germany. This technology is in high demand in Europe, where DMS systems will soon be mandatory on new vehicles.
The European Union General Safety Regulation created the driver monitoring system regulations to reduce the number of deadly accidents caused by distracted drivers.
Gentex’s mirror-integrated DMS tracks driver head pose, eye gaze, and other metrics to determine distraction, drowsiness, sudden sickness, and return of manual control in semi-autonomous vehicles. With the DMS located in the mirror, the system can easily be installed across vehicle platforms in a discreet, high-performance location.
Cabin Monitoring Capabilities
The Gentex DMS can expand to include 2D and 3D cabin monitoring as well for detecting passengers, behavior, objects, and even presence of life.
This unique, multi-modal sensor technology provides a comprehensive suite of driver- and cabin-monitoring solutions for the automotive industry.
